Hi There,
How is the general feedback out the dedicated servers ? Is it good ?
Have you any bandwidth problems ? Is it quick ? Any hardware problems ?
Any software problems ? Manager ?

Hi,

Dedicated Server's and Hardware: Good quality.
Software? Cpanel: Bad, licenses elsewhere.. :(
Network: Bad with Telefónica (sometimes) and Latino América.
Manager: Good ;).
Ip's: StartM 1ip only, why not +2ip's??
Example:
StartM, 2 Ip's.
SuperPlan: 4 Ip's.
etc..

The better of your dedicated servers service is the
constant evolution and the I+D improvements, all
combinated with affordable price.

Is it good ? Yes
Have you any bandwidth problems ? Only with Telefonica
Is it quick ? Yes
Any hardware problems ? In the past with 2nd raid disk
Any software problems ? Not responsability of ovh
Manager ? Some problems with OS reinstall in the past..

But...

- A faster paid support will be great.
- Network with improvements of 2008, we think wi'll OK.
- What about presence in Espanix?
- What about a datacenter in Spain?

Just little slow problems from time to time, nearly inapreciable imho

Manager it's ok for me, online reinstall option is... just incredible : )

As an improvement, maybe a bank charge payment will be nice, instead of having to pay manually. For all the rest, OVH is the better hosting company i have ever seen... and i have seen a bunch of... xE

MarcosBL, I am using a Gentoo 64 bit on SuperPlan 2007 and I had no problem with database corruption in the INSERT statements.

Refering to Espanix presence, it will be great.

what do you need exactly ?

we have doing this job right in France. when it's up, it will
be on on ES/DE/PL/UK/NL/IT market.

It depend what does it cost :) The last price I saw
it was too much expensive. It's less expensive to
buy a Cisco and propose the free peering point ...

not in 2008. we have to finish the network and phone
services before thinking about the housing.

I found the problem with Gentoo 64 bit on MG ++ large , have talked about it in another thread, found lot of similar problems in OVH french forums as well as in Google. Finally, i had to switch back to Gentoo 32 bits on that machine for mysql to work properly.

what do you need exactly ?
Well.. for example the software "Plesk" licences "30 domains (default), 100..etc.." with OVH is easy and low cost. But Cpanel licences, we need to go to other sites, more dificulty and cost..

Installer needs a lot of work. Some distributions are very old. FC4 with Plesk for exmaple, or the one I use FreeBSD 6.2, 6.3 has been out already, and this 28th of February has been released 7.0

Also the installer needs to be "more dynamic", the default partition for example in FreeBSD is a failure. /swap is always 500mb, it doesn't take in mind the RAM, I for example have a Sp08 2GB, Recommended swap is 4000MB. Also the value of / should be a percentage calculated on the installer of the total space and not a fixed value. With default partition had big issues of logs getting full the / partition and running out of inodes due to the ports install, while /home having lot of spare space and inodes.

I would recommend a backup server for the manager interface too, the other day it went down for quite a few hours, leaving me out of my possibilities to get control of my machine. If a backup manager server is not possible in all the functions, at least the critical ones, hard reboot, netboot, install.

Also I think, a ticket based support would help to keep issues more organized and to keep track, for both costumer and support team. Is used in a lot of hosting companies, I've seen very few without it
